An Irving Berlin song, “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” was written for the musical Annie Get Your Gun (orchestrated by Ted Royal), and, at that time, New York City’s Broadway Theatre District was the foremost destination to see the hottest, newest musicals.

Well, times have changed and Las Vegas is now one of the premiere locations to see classic, highly acclaimed and the newest musicals. While both cities proudly feature the musicals’ neon marquees and advertisements displayed on taxi cabs, Vegas is different in that the show schedules can operate longer, theaters tend to have newer technology, and shows typically run 90-95 minutes with no intermission.

Vegas the “Broadway West” April – June 2011 Shows:

●  Phantom– at the Venetian

The Lion King– at Mandalay Bay

LOVE Cirque du Soleil– at the Mirage

Jersey Boys– at Palazzo Theater

Viva Elvis Cirque du Soleil– at the Aria

More info on how to see Broadway shows in Vegas or see all the Off-Broadway productions like Blue Man Group, Penn & Teller, Barry Manilow, and Celine Dion. I guess it’s true, There’s No Business Like Show Business!
